Project acacia tree
2013
Daycare for people with disabilities
About the project-
A competition I participated in during my studies as a student
ZeZeZe Gallery" contest
A contest for architects and designers as part of the designer clinic of the
College of Management. The project consisted of a phased planning proposition for
a senior's center in Be'er Sheva.
The project is located in one of the northern neighbourhoods of Be'er Sheva.
The starting point of the planning was , about an exteded perception of universal design, which intergrates all the fluid containment principles and accessibility with ecological properties as a term for a healthy space. The goal was to make the 'patients' feel different but still equal.
People with special needs, motorical or cognitive limitation in particular, need to have the abilityto move freely in the space and enjoy the environment in a different way that is essential to the body and soul of the human-being, to enhance his self image and enjoy his surrounding.
The program uses a combination of yards and gardens and planning in different scales which allow different stimulation, such as: Appartuses with special vocal effects and some with special visual or sensing elements to help enrich patients with sensual disabilities.
The project was planned in phases:
Phase A:
- The whole entrance lobby, administration area including - secretariat, manager office,
toilets, staff resting room.
- 4 communal activity unints - these classes are protected.
- 3 nursing mother classes - 80 sq"m.
- 1 mother therapeutic class - 65 sq"m.
- "The five senses garden".
- Kitchen, storage.
- Outer areas.
Phase B:
- 2 protected communal activity unints.
- 2 mother nursing classes - 80 sq"m.
- 2 mother therapeutic classes - 65 sq"m.
- Dining hall.
- Outer areas.
Phase C:
- 2 protected communal activity unints (40 + 15).
- 1 nursing mother class - 80 sq"m.
- 1 mother therapeutic class - 65 sq"m.
The global design of locating the different functions in the building takes into account the approach for
future development of the structure. The main composition is intended to create a sense of unity and bond
the different part of the complex.
At the base of the perception lays the thought that claims that "the whole is greater than the sum of its
parts".
